Recently, the award list of the 9th Hong Kong International Youth Film Festival (HKIYFF) was officially announced. Students from the College of Digital Film and Television, Sichuan University of Culture and Arts stood out from numerous entries with outstanding creative talent and solid professional competence, winning the Excellent Screenplay Award in the Student Script Unit. This fully demonstrates the remarkable achievements of the university in cultivating film and television talents.

Hosted by the Hong Kong International Youth Film Festival Association, the association was officially approved and established by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government in 2018, and launched the Hong Kong Youth Film Fund in 2019. With the tenet of "Empowering Youth, Lighting Up the Future", the film festival is committed to discovering and supporting promising young filmmakers with talent and dreams. It builds a high-level international platform for global young film talents to communicate, learn, cooperate and showcase their works, boosting the creation and development of youth film art.

The award-winning student team consists of four students from the university: Liu Shengrong, Yang Xueer and Zheng Bohui, majoring in Film, Television Photography and Production, and Zeng Changhong, majoring in Drama, Film and Television Literature. Among them, the original screenplay Sunflower by Liu Shengrong, Return of Mountains and Seas by Zeng Changhong, and Old Yang co-created by Yang Xueer and Zheng Bohui all won the Excellent Screenplay Award. Their instructors, Deng Wenchao and Zhan Jiying, were awarded the Excellent Instructor Award.

This outstanding achievement is not only a high recognition of students’ personal creative abilities, but also a fruitful result of the university’s long-term adherence to interdisciplinary collaborative education and in-depth reform of practical teaching. In recent years, Sichuan University of Culture and Arts has given full play to its multidisciplinary advantages, encouraged integrated and collaborative creation among students of different majors, and strived to cultivate high-quality application-oriented talents that meet industry demands. The awards fully reflect the solid professional foundation and innovative spirit of our students, and further enhance the university’s influence in the field of international youth films.
