The 3rd Macao International Comedy Festival has concluded successfully at the Hengqin Culture and Art Center in Zhuhai. As a premier comedy art event in China, the festival gathered distinguished industry professionals and staged a series of high-quality performances. Gong Zhenxu, President of Sichuan University of Culture and Arts (SCUCA), Xu Liexun, Vice President, and Wen Xiaoyan, Dean of the School of Digital Film and Television, led faculty and student representatives to attend the event upon invitation. They conducted in-depth exchanges with Mahua FunAge, one of China’s leading comedy troupes, fully demonstrating SCUCA’s fruitful achievements in practical art education and university-enterprise collaborative talent cultivation.

The festival was attended by renowned artists including Shen Teng, Ma Li, Allen and Chang Yuan, core members of Mahua FunAge, as well as the troupe’s founders. Young performers from universities across the country presented six high-level shows, integrating classroom learning with stage practice and winning wide recognition from the audience. After the performances, senior artists provided professional and targeted guidance for young students in terms of character building, stage movement and rhythm control. SCUCA faculty and students benefited greatly from face-to-face communication with top industry practitioners. Excellent student actors were selected on site and granted qualification for signing contracts, opening a direct channel for young talents to enter the professional industry.

During the event, SCUCA leaders held in-depth discussions with the founder of Mahua FunAge on artistic talent training and collaborative education. The two sides reached important cooperation intentions on jointly building practical teaching bases, expanding internship and employment channels, and co-creating high-quality art projects. SCUCA also invited the Mahua FunAge team to visit the university for further exchanges and cooperation. Guided by the troupe, SCUCA participants visited the professional performance spaces and facilities of the Hengqin Culture and Art Center, which further broadened their artistic horizons.

Student representative Ma Mingze noted that the festival experience deepened his understanding of comedy art, helped him master practical stage and interaction skills, and laid a solid foundation for his academic study and future development.

Participation in the Macao International Comedy Festival reflects SCUCA’s strong capabilities in practical education and industry cooperation.
