Recently, faculty and students from Sichuan University of Culture and Arts have secured a string of prestigious awards in international professional design competitions and national youth screenplay selection campaigns, fully showcasing the university’s remarkable strength in artistic creation and fruitful outcomes in practical education.

Shining on the Global Stage: Boiling Mianzhou at Night and Play in the Water Claim Bronze at CADA International Concept Art Design Awards

The 2026 8th CADA Japan International Concept Art Design Awards have recently concluded, with two works from our university winning Bronze Awards.Boiling Mianzhou at Night is a collaborative piece by Xiao Tongkai (Film and Television Photography & Production) and Pu Xinyue (Drama, Film and Television Literature) from the School of Digital Film and Television, Luo Zhengxin from the School of Physical Education, and Chen Yan from the School of Digital Media. Another entry Play in the Water was created by Gao Xinlei, also majoring in Film and Television Photography & Production. Faculty members Fan Pujunqian and Ma Wenjun were conferred the Excellent Mentor Award.

themed Layers of Time: The Poetics of Temporal Design, the 2026 CADA Competition spans graphic design, product design, environmental design, media design, artistic creation, conceptual design, and AIGC-generated graphics. It welcomes submissions from professional designers, design firms and university students across the globe. Judging criteria place premium on entries’ creative depth, temporal narrative appeal and artistic presentation. Grounded in local urban cultural heritage, the award-winning work Boiling Mianzhou at Night explores artistic creation from a temporal perspective. Its original conception and superb artistic expression have won high acclaim from the international judging panel.

National Recognition: Screenplay Chasing Dreams on the Basketball Court Shortlisted for 2025 National Youth Screenplay Program

At the national level, Chasing Dreams on the Basketball Court, an original film screenplay written by Lan Cuihua, a student majoring in Drama, Film and Television Literature, was selected as an Outstanding Creative Screenplay in the 2025 National Youth Screenplay Program. Under the meticulous guidance of Supervisor Li Tingting, the work was polished repeatedly from initial conception to final draft, embodying the profound integration of academic teaching and creative practice.

Organized by the Film Bureau of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and co-hosted by the National Film Script Planning and Creation Center as well as the Publicity Department of Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, the 2025 National Youth Screenplay Program stands as a pivotal national platform for discovering and nurturing young screenwriting talents. Upholding Chinese cultural traditions and championing core socialist values, the initiative encourages creators to tell authentic Chinese stories with heartfelt passion. Competition results have been officially announced on authoritative platforms including the National Film Administration official website, the National Film Script Planning and Creation Center website, and China Film News. Centered on youthful aspirations and sportsmanship, Chasing Dreams on the Basketball Court boasts an uplifting theme and vividly depicts the vigorous spirit of contemporary youth, earning high commendations from the jury.
